Light Within

The Universe speaks to me in colors

The beauty of any given moment

reflecting solidity as illusion

The space between the space

A transparent body

A prism of light glowing

Radiant

Illuminating limitless layers

for those who give the time to see

Light within

Brilliant

The Censor

We are victims of our own internalized perfectionist, a nasty internal and eternal critic,

the Censor,

who resides in our (left) brain and keeps up a constant stream of subversive remarks that are

often disguised as the truth. . . .

Make this a rule: always remember that your Censor’s negative opinions are not the truth.

This takes practice.

By spilling out of bed and straight onto the page every morning,

you learn to evade the Censor.

you have a gift
it speaks to me
as you become quiet
I have knowledge
when you listen
I have peace
anytime you want it
what’s that, bullshit, you say
that feeling that washes over your body
goosebumps, hairs on end
the upturned corners of your mouth
that comes from nowhere
looking in the mirror, able to stay
more than a glance, for awhile
and you smile
at that moment, you are beautiful
at that moment, you are healthy
at that moment, you are smart
at that moment, you are free
you are
me
the reflection is in my eyes
embrace me

Droplets of Dewy Diamonds

We are droplets of dewy diamonds

Transparent, radiant rainbows burst around us

coloring all in our lives

For the briefest of moments,

when the light shines just right,

we are luminous and brilliant beyond imagining

What will you do with your magnificent beauty

before evaporating into the vast

“Everything”

once again
